Assessed from Cadw's full report (GM450), replacing the register-derived verdict. fortified_residence YES: identified lordly tenure (the le Sore family) plus a keep and angle tower with domestic fabric (garderobe, windows, newel stair). Defensive detail is concise — one surviving angle tower — but the report frames it as a castle of a named lordly family with keep traces, so both halves are supported. All other bands OMITTED: the report speaks to none of them, and gives no popular-usage evidence. Confidence medium: one official report plus register.
